About Us

There is nothing quite the same as heating your home with a real Charnwood fire.

For more than five decades, Charnwood has been designing and making wood burning stoves on the Isle of Wight. Our story began in 1972, when Alfred Wells and two of his sons started a small engineering business in Niton. From those beginnings, the family business has grown considerably, while remaining firmly rooted on the Island and committed to British design and manufacturing.

Today, Charnwood is part of A.J Wells & Sons and our stoves are sold across the UK and around the world. We continue to combine traditional craftsmanship with ongoing innovation, developing efficient, cleaner burning stoves that are designed to provide lasting warmth for the home. We also believe there is something uniquely rewarding about heating with wood, from the simple ritual of lighting and tending a fire to the warmth and atmosphere it brings into everyday life.
